The Memorial Day parade, Arsenal City Run and Tree Lighting were "spiced" up and saw huge increases in participation. We have challenged ourselves to improve each year and plans are shaping up to do just that.
In 2009 the City began providing its own ambulance service through the Fire Department. We are averaging 3 transports a day with improved response time and continuity of care.
We are constantly looking for new ideas or new applications of old ones... energy and environment are common themes as we build our future. We encourage you to be a part of this proces and come to us with issues that affect your day-to-day lives.
We currently have working committees for our recycling program, Arsenal City Run, Community Gardens in the City and coming soon we will begin meeting in regards to Pershing Green Park and Hudson Shores. For the business owners in the City we have established our Business Council.
Everyday my staff and I are working towards making a difference but with the economic times being as such, we alone cannot achieve all of our goals without the help of you, the citizens of Watervliet.
December Tip of the Month
Aging faucets in your kitchen or
bathroom (more than 10 years old)
can use between 3 and 7 gallons of
water per minute. If you still like their
appearance, you can update them
by installing faucet aerators. These
small devices attach or screw into
most faucets and will reduce water
flow to 2 gallons a minute or less
while maintaining adequate pressure.
